The “Elite” Meet

🚀 What’s happening: Did you know U.S. taxpayers (as in, you!) have sent the World Economic Forum (WEF) about $9 million over the past year?

That’s why you deserve to know what just happened at their annual illuminati leadership meeting in Davos, Switzerland. So we looked into it.

 Dining With Masterworks

Buffett vs Banksy: The surprising winner

What’s one market not on Warren Buffett’s radar that grew at an annualized rate of 14.4% from 2007 to June 2023, outpacing shares of his very own Berkshire Hathaway? The market for Banksy’s art.

That's right, Banksy. And now, for the first time, everyday investors are getting in on the action. Thanks to Masterworks, the award-winning platform for investing in blue-chip art. Masterworks enables anyone to invest in shares of paintings by artists like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso. With 20 exits, investors have already realized returns of 16.0%, 21.5%, 35% and more.

Investing involves risk and past performance is not indicative of future returns. See important Reg A disclosures and aggregate advisory performance masterworks.com/cd

Headlines That Matter

📈 Don’t worry, invest happyMarkets continued to move higher this past week on the back of strong company earnings and better consumer sentiment (get our latest thoughts here).

📚 For any aspiring entrepreneur (or if just want to forward something interesting to your kids), this “lost” Jeff Bezos interview from 1997 is a must watch. In it he explains why he chose to build Amazon around selling books.

📋 While it isn’t official yet, Congress may have made a new years resolution to actually do something this year. A House Republican and a Senate Democrat who chair important committees just announced they had come to an agreement on a $78 billion plan that would expand the Child Tax Credit and lower tax rates for corporate America.

📱For once we have something positive to say about tech companies as it relates to our kids because Meta just announced new features to help teens manage their time on the app. Some of the new features include parental supervision of who teens interact with on messenger and “nudging” teens take a break after 20 minutes of app use. Hmm… What took so long?

🪜 The Boston Consulting Group created a quick 7-step plan to help people use their time better to reach their goals.

💬 Quote Of The Week

“Having children is like living in a frat house - nobody sleeps, everything's broken, and there's a lot of throwing up.”

Dinner Discussion ❓

Answer: Unfortunately there’s not one right answer for everyone on this question but it’s worth asking your kids to see what they come up with (our 3 year old says $10… but we think she might be off). For a good high level way to calculate what you may need we have a short guide here.
